As well as the natural landscape, another area within the limitless realm of art maintains my interest.  It is fantasy art, or sci fi art, or whatever you want to call it.  This area, more than any other, offers the artist the opportunity to be a CREATOR.  Given that creating is the primary design objective of the human mind, and that, if life continues on in some form and after some effect (whatever that may be) after death, the small creative power that an artist can exercise in the construction of a piece of a planet in this life may well have ramafications in terms of extended purposes and greater powers within the realm of immortality.  Consider this: that this life expresses so much creative ingenuity and perversion all at once wholly tied together and yet impossible to reconcile, and that the removal of our gross deficiencies is a universal theme found within all cultures; that what we have as artists, and builders, and landscape gardeners, and website designers, and jewellers, and pyramid laborers may well be seeds of far greater potential locked away beyond this feeble life of unfulfilled yearning. 

When you craft a 3-dimensional landscape and lock together the light, the atmosphere, the dust and smoke, the reflected light, the tones, the contrast, and the indefinable blending and inspiration that occurs at the summit of conscious and intuitive mindfulness, and when you have experienced this amazing power for so long and yet know it's diminishment is inevitably framed within a painful realm of mortality, you begin to sense (even without the distorted input of cultic religionists who pontificate and manipulate) that this is a small part of a creative cycle and plan that will see increasing levels of fulfillment generated way beyond this tiny life we fumble through.  And, all the more, one senses as the years fade away behind you in an ever more diffuse and broad wake, that character must be, indeed can only be, the sole qualification for being able to apprehend those infinite potentials. 

These thoughts represent some of the effects of the confluence of my artistic career and a PhD in Sociology, some of which are included in the doctoral thesis that has evolved from what would have been an Honors thesis in Environmental Health, but which became Honors in Social Ecology, and is now an unfinished thesis currently languishing amidst a world of difficulties.

For more information on each image click this LINK.  These images represent my interpretations of a combination of my personal photos, and other's photos and paintings.  Most of these paintings were done as a teenager, locked in the midst of the great struggle and necessary process of learning basics that would lay the foundation for later independence in creativity.  I believe this is a particularly important ingredient in the fashioning of expertise and the evolvement of that critically important personal sense of creatorship.  Unfortunately the paranoia and stupidity of exclusivity and universal ownership, and the pervasive infection of the legal fraternity has turned the essential aspect of artist apprenticeship into a criminal act.  This is an abuse of the general and a priori law of diversity, just another example of the disease of degeneracy sweeping through this current civilization.

Most of these paintings are composites (that is, they include elements from many sources).  All represent an idiosyncratic interpretation of what is seen and sensed.  I provide good quality resolution images for these paintings.  All unsold paintings are available to galleries for hanging or to private citizens for purchase.  As well, I will consider any request to paint a scene, including one supplied by the customer with details on what is preferred.  In this respect, you may email me a photo and details for consideration.  Then I will determine if I want to attempt it!  A non-refundable deposit will need to be made if I am to accept a commission to produce an artwork.
